This is just a short letter to let you know how thankful we are to God and for NuVet supplements.
Our Goldie came into the house on the morning of April 15, 2015 and could hardly stand up straight. If the wall had not been right next to her, she would have surely tipped over. We watched her all that day hoping she would come out of it but the next day, she was the same so we took her to the Veterinarian ~ after a very thorough examination and several blood tests, it was decided that perhaps it was an immunity problem and he also placed her on prednisone to stop further decline as she had lost so much weight (down to 78 pounds) and then antibiotics for two weeks in case it was Lymes disease and then a couple of days later, did a blood test titer to rule out Leptospirosis.
Goldie was extremely anemic ~ her blood test for red blood cells (hematocrit) was a mere 22 and should have been in the 40 - 50 range. I came home and called Kathy at NuVet for help and suggestions and she told me to increase Goldie's supplement tab from one to four without fear of being too much as she would simply "poop out" what her body did not require ~ the NuVet is specially developed for our doggies to stay healthy and when something like this happens, it is a great time to give an extra "boost" to her immune system with a larger dose of NuVet Plus.
With all of the blood tests and repeat blood testing, nothing was ever decided as to the initial cause but her hematocrit level jumped back up to 43 and the next week again was 43 then the following week went up to 51. The color is back in her inner lips and gums, she is acting like a puppy again and has so much energy to spare. She is off the prednisone and her appetite and activity level is super and she has gained her weight back up into the 95 pound range.
